client case study

the edward alexander group

The Edward Alexander Group (TEAG), established by Oakfield Capital Partners, is a portfolio of six design-led brands devoted to ensuring British craft thrives both within the UK and internationally. Each brand has a unique and distinctive personality, united by a shared creative spirit, commitment to quality, and intrinsically British aesthetic.

Their brands include Gainsborough, producers of bespoke woven furnishing fabrics rooted in over a century of heritage; Titley & Marr, known for their distinctive textile designs; George Spencer Designs, offering fabrics, wallpapers and trimmings for both traditional and contemporary interiors; Collier Webb, creators of lighting and furniture combining craftsmanship with engineering precision; McKinney & Co, specialists in bespoke curtain poles; and Heritage Trimmings, providers of decorative finishing details for interior schemes.

The Group combines tradition and modernity, harvesting the best of both with quintessentially British spirit.

Mark Nevill, Chief Executive Officer

As a complex group structure considering our turnover and six brands to manage, we were struggling to bring any consistency to our thinking or reporting in terms of sustainability.

B·ABLE helped us to lay out a framework with objectives and prioritisation of tasks, and putting in place the mechanics required to follow up and collect data.

For the first time, our company has both a clear strategy and measurable KPIs, allowing us to report on progress. On a personal note, both Mirry and Mia are a pleasure to work with.”

The Challenge

Recognising the growing expectations around ESG from clients, employees, investors, and evolving regulations, TEAG set out to strengthen and formalise its group-wide sustainability practices. Yet with each brand operating independently, their efforts to date had felt disconnected. The challenge was to create a strategy that could honour the diversity of the brands, unify their approach, and clearly respond to increasing stakeholder expectations, while remaining true to their British heritage.

The Solution

We began by working collaboratively with stakeholders across the business to understand existing activities, priorities and ambitions. This included an ESG ambitions workshop, bringing together leadership teams from across the brands to identify what was already in place, where strengths lay, and where there were opportunities to build further.

From this, we developed a clear, group-wide sustainability strategy that aligned all six brands under a common purpose, while allowing flexibility for each brand to apply it in a way that was relevant to them. This included defining key focus areas, setting meaningful targets, and establishing measurable KPIs to track progress over time.

Alongside this, we supported the development of a detailed action plan, providing clarity on priorities, responsibilities and next steps, ensuring the strategy could be implemented in a structured and practical way.

As TEAG does not have a dedicated internal sustainability function, we continued to support them in implementing their strategy. Through a series of group-wide forums, we reviewed progress against the action plan, addressed emerging challenges, and provided ongoing sustainability expertise. This ensured TEAG remained on track and was able to progress with confidence.

The Results

With a clear strategy and framework now in place, TEAG is progressing its sustainability journey with greater alignment and focus. For the first time, all six brands are working within a unified structure, providing clarity on priorities and direction.

The action plan has introduced accountability and a consistent approach to tracking progress, giving the business the tools needed to move forward with confidence and respond to ESG expectations from investors and wider stakeholders.
